Today’s NPC Athlete Spotlight is Dana N. Mauro
I’m 29 years old (5’8 ½, 132lbs), a mother of two boys (Tucker is 3 and Mason is 1), I own 2 real estate offices with my mother at the Jersey Shore (RE/MAX Real Estate, LTD. in Brick and Lavallette) in which I am the full time Broker of Record for our company with over 60 agents and 10 employees, I am married to my husband Eric, a NJ State Trooper (who is also my training partner), have 3 dogs (which I just love) and live in Point Pleasant, New Jersey.
I decided after Mason was born and always being an athlete in school (basketball, soccer and track) that I would pursue my dream of being a figure competitor. I remember always looking up to Jenny Lynn, Monica Brant, Ronnie Colemon, Dorian Yates, Cory Everson, Bev Francis and so many other inspiration athletes! While training over the summer at my gym (Vive Fitness in Point Pleasant Beach), I was so very fortunate enough to meet Gerard Dente, who gave me an amazing opportunity to be part of Team MHP. He, along with Fabian Orzco, have been coaching me for the past 12 weeks… And with hard work, a clean diet, great supplements and coaching… my transformation happened!
My first contest was the 2013 NPC New Jersey Gold’s Classic Championships on October 26th in Paterson. I placed 2nd in Figure Open C and 2nd in Novice… For my first show I was so EXCITED! Then I competed in the NPC Eastern USA’s in NYC on November 16th and placed 3rd in Open Figure D out of 14 girls and 4th in Novice… I couldn’t believe it! To compete in NYC, especially at that show where the energy was enormous and being judged by Steve Weinerberger & Jim Manion, was an once in a lifetime experience… One that has truly inspired me to continue training hard for that Pro Card! I’ve decided my next show will be the NPC Junior USA Championships in Charleston, SC.
5 months to truly take it to the… NEXT LEVEL!
