India Paulino, Candace John and Jodi Boam all took home first-place hardware from their respective divisions at the Pittsburgh Pro Figure, Bikini and Fitness Championships on Saturday night.
For Paulino, it was a huge step forward from her appearance on this very same stage a year ago – and maybe another step towards something much bigger in September. Last year, Paulino came to Pittsburgh as a little-known NPC competitor and ended up placing third in her class on the amateur level. But tonight’s win mean’s she has now won three of her last four competitions, the lone setback coming with her runner-up finish to Sonia Gonzales at the Bikini International in March. All of which makes her a bonafide contender for the Bikini Olympia title come September 28 in Las Vegas.
John, meanwhile, won the first contest of her career. The win comes one week after her career-best runner-up finish at last week’s Europa Show of Champions.
In fitness, Canada’s Jodi Boam won her first professional contest. A second-year pro, Boam’s best placing to date was a second-place finish at the 2011 Ft. Lauderdale Cup.
