Heather Dees, Karin Kimura and Matt Christianer all put their names in the record books at the first-ever IFBB Governor’s Cup on Saturday night in Sacramento.
Dees, entering her third year in the IFBB, won the first professional contest of her career. Her win in Sacramento came three weeks after she finished fifth at the Figure International in Columbus, Ohio.
Kimura, who won the Overall in Women’s Physique at the NPC Nationals last November, made her pro debut one to remember as she came from behind to edge past Sara Hurrle by two points. Kimura trailed by a point heading into the finals, then overtook last week’s St. Louis Pro winner at the finals.
In Men’s Physique, Matt Christianer won the division’s first professional contest. It was actually the second first for Christianer in the division – he also won the first pro card at last year’s Junior USAs, the first-ever Men’s Physique pro-qualifying event.
