Daytona Beach, Florida – Jan. 25, 2014 – On Sunday, Feb. 2nd, Bombshell FitnessTM will launch a yearlong fundraising campaign for breast cancer research with their inaugural “i-SURVIVED” Bridge Run in Daytona Beach. The scenic 5K run will start at the Plaza Resort & Spa (A1A & Seabreeze Blvd.) and then over the Mason Street Bridge to land on Main Street leading runners onto beautiful Daytona beach for the remainder of the run until they come to the finish line directly behind the Plaza Resort & Spa. The registration fee for anyone not attending BOMiCON is the purchase of a single “i-SURVIVED” event shirt for $30, with 100% of all net proceeds going to breast cancer research.
This first fundraiser of 2014 kicks off a year-long campaign to benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure® breast cancer research (formerly known as The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation). From their headquarters in Daytona Beach, Bombshell Fitness will be coordinating several Bridge Runs throughout the year, and, many members are expected to coordinate additional local Bridge Runs right in their own hometowns! With clients in over 25 countries, Bombshell Fitness members world-wide will be participating in this initiative, along with their friends and family members who can participate as runners or sponsors. Last February, the company’s first breast cancer fundraising endeavor was a single Bridge Run that garnered
the participation of over 150 BombshellTM athletes in the United States, Canada, UK, and Finland and raised over $15,000. This year, the company is hoping to far exceed that amount over the course of 2014. Shannon Dey, Bombshell Fitness Founder & CEO, commented, “Bombshell Fitness is an organization of women helping other women overcome some tough challenges on their journey towards health & fitness, including various stages of cancer. This fundraising campaign for Susan G. Komen for the Cure® is one more way for our company, our colleagues and our members to ‘pay it forward’ and make a difference we can all be proud of.”
Fundraising event shirts are being sold online for $30 at bombshellfitness.com/shop/. Personal donations for any amount, as well as corporate donations, can be made directly on the fundraising site at bombshellsgiveback.com.
