Curtis Bryant wins the 2012 Muscle Heat Championships

Curtis Bryant came out of virtually nowhere. Now he’s going to 212 Showdown after winning the IFBB Complete Nutrition Muscle Heat Championships in North Carolina on Saturday.

Bryant, who turned pro at the 2008 NPC USA Championships by winning the Light Heavyweight class, hadn’t competed since placing 7th at the 2009 Atlantic City Pro.

He beat out two of the precontest favorites in Tricky Jackson and Guy Cisternino. Jackson, who was coming off a fairly close runner-up finish to David Henry at the Europa Super Show last weekend, placed second.

Cisternino, who entered hoping for a win and an automatic qualification to the 212 showdown, had to settle for third and three more points in the Olympia Qualification Series Standings. The three points move him into a tie for second in the standings and all but assure him of a qualification.
