Today’s NPC Athlete Spotlight is of Danyelle Mastarone
My name is Danyelle Mastarone and I am an NPC National Level Figure Competitor, as well an NPC Judge and Expeditor. Hailing from Pittsburgh, PA, the Home of the NPC, Bodybuilding was right at my backdoor, but I didn’t discover my passion for weight training until about 5 years ago. Before I started training, I was a very petite group fitness junkie and terrified of the “boy’s side of the gym.” After witnessing the amazing transformation of one of my girlfriends after she competed in a local Figure Show, I was determined to do this too, only I would do it better!
I first stepped on stage in the Spring of 2010 and have since competed in 10 shows, racking up some nice hardware and national qualification. Most recently I competed at the NPC North American National Championships where I brought my absolute best package to date. I plan to keep this momentum up and return to the stage in 2014 at Master’s National.
When I am not competing myself you can find me working backstage or front and center in Judge’s Row. Judging has made me a much better competitor and vice versa. I don’t just love this sport; I truly love this industry and have found the best friends of my life. It came as a surprise to many that I wanted to compete in the Bodybuilding Industry, myself included, but the inner strength I have discovered and the amazing feeling I get from pushing myself beyond my limits is what brings me back day and day out!
