IFBB Weekend Preview: EVL Prague Pro & Border States Bikini!

The IFBB continues it’s month-long Euro-Asia tour this weekend, as Men’s Bodybuilding and Bikini hit the Czech Republic, and continues it’s long-standing California tradition with the Border States Bikini Championships.

EVL PRAGUE PRO

The IFBB returs to the Czech Republic for the first time in 14 years with the first-year event, featuring Men’s Bodybuilding, 212 Men’s Bodybuilding and Bikini. The main storyline here has been the same at virtually every IFBB Men’s Bodybuilding event since August, outside of the Olympia – can anyone beat Shawn Rhoden? With four wins already this year, Rhoden is having a season for the ages. He’ll try to make it five this weekend against essentially the same lineup he beat in each of the past two weeks at the Arnold Classic Europe and the British Grand Prix.

Dennis Wolf returns after skipping Britain looking to win his first contest of the year and third of his career. Wolf finished second to Rhoden in Spain, his second runner-up finish of the year. Johnnie Jackson placed second to Rhoden in Britain.

Flex Lewis will look to win for the third time in the past five weeks in the 212 Division. Lewis, the reigning 212 Showdown winner, came out on top of a loaded lineup on week ago in Britain, and he’ll have to be just as sharp this week to hold off Sami Al Haddad and Eduardo Correa.

Al Haddad has competed twice in the IFBB, finishing second in both – each time versus the reigning Showdown winner. He finished as the runner-up to Lewis last week and to Kevin English at the New York Pro in May.

In Bikini, Justine Munro makes the trip overseas looking for her second win of 2012. In addition to her win – which came at the St. Louis Pro last month – Munro has placed second three times this season.

BORDER STATES

Pro Bikini takes center stage in San Diego on Saturday, with 12 of the IFBB’s hottest hardbodies looking to book a trip to Las Vegas with a win and an automatic qualification.

The most likely candidate to do so is Amanda Latona, coming off of a seventh-place finish at the Bikini Olympia. Latona typically fares well in California competitions – she’s placed in the top three in five So Cal Bikini contests since 2010, a streak that includes three wins.

Three other competitors who qualified for the Bikini Olympia – Tiffany Marie Boydston, Stacey Alexander and Taylor Matheny – will contend for spots at the top of the lineup.
