IFBB Show of Champions Finals Report

Al Auguste and Mark Anthony Wingson won for the second time this year while Candice Keene and Patricia Mello cracked into the winner’s circle for the first by winning their respective divisions at the IFBB Europa Show of Champions on Saturday.

Auguste has now swept both 212 events of 2012. He won the first 212 contest at the Desert Classic in Phoenix on February 25.

Wingson followed up his win at the Pro Grand Prix two weeks ago with another win here to make him the first competitor in Men’s Physique history with multiple wins. He won’t stop there, though – Wingson will try to make it three in a row when he competes at the New York Pro on May 19. Collin Humphries finished as the runner up for his second-straight top-three finish. Humphries placed third at the Pro Grand Prix.

In Figure, Candice Keene won the third contest of her three-year career. Keene, who placed second at the Show of Champions a year ago, was coming off an impressive third-place finish at the Figure International in March. While she was slightly off from her career-best form here, it was enough to garner straight firsts on the judges scorecards.

Patricia Mello turned heads in her debut in the Women’s Physique division two weeks ago when placing second to Sara Hurrle at the Pro Grand Prix. She did the same in Orlando, and was rewarded with the first professional win of her career.
