2013 IFBB Greater Gulf States This Weekend

Fifty of the IFBB’s finest Bikini, Men’s Physique and Women’s Physique competitors will make the trip to the Big Easy for the Greater Gulf States in Metairie, Louisiana this Friday and Saturday.

Amanda Latona, competing for the first time this season, headlines the Bikini lineup. Latona already has an Olympia Qualification wrapped up thanks to her win at the Sacramento Pro last November. Latona has won at least one contest in each of her first three years in the IFBB, and she’ll look to make it four in Louisiana. Narmin Assria, coming off a win at the Pacific USA Championships two weeks ago, is the only other competitor in the lineup with a pro win on her resume.

2012 Greater Gulf champ Tamee Marie returns to defend her title in the Women’s Physique division. Marie, who also won the Houston Cup last October, faces another two-time WPD winner in Nola Trimble. Trimble won back-to-back contests last summer, at the Chicago Pro and the Tampa Pro Bodybuilding Weekly Championships. Both will be looking to add their names to the list of three-time Women’s Physique winners, one that includes Patricia Mello, Karina Nascimento and Sara Hurrle.

Whoever wins the Men’s Physique title will be holding the first winner’s check of their pro career. Alex Carniero, Tyler Anderson and Jason Poston all have finished in the top three of previous contests, while rookie Jeremy Buendia makes his pro debut just one month after winning the Overall at the NPC Junior USA Championships.
